#1 - NOIRWICH CRIME WRITING FESTIVAL
FLASH FICTION COMPETITION

Brought to you by Norwich City of Stories, Noirwich Crime Writing Festival and Jarrold.

PD James, Elly Griffiths, Harry Brett, Cathi Unsworth…plenty of crime writers have taken inspiration for their writing from Norfolk, ‘the land of big skies and buried secrets’. We’re on the hunt for writers – beginner and established alike – to join the crime writing hall of fame for the region by entering our flash fiction competition!

Submit a 500 word story inspired by, or set in, Norwich or Norfolk to win an incredible set of prizes:

  • £100 voucher for Jarrold’s book department
  • Publication on the City of Stories website
  • National Centre for Writing goody bag

All shortlisted writers will be invited to the finale of this year’s Noirwich Crime Writing Festival, Noirwich Live, on Sunday 16 September. The winner of the competition will be announced and there will be an opportunity for all shortlisted writers to perform their pieces on stage if they wish. The event will be headlined by international bestselling Norfolk crime writer Elizabeth Haynes.

Earlier in the day, Great Yarmouth-based crime novelist Harry Brett will be in conversation with Graeme Cameron, Elly Griffiths and Elodie Harper about Norfolk as a setting for crime writing. Book tickets now >>
