Finally it’s Festival time - Norfolk & Norwich Festival launches tomorrow with a superb free outdoor event starting in Cathedral Close at 9pm. There will be giant dolls, a procession, beating drums, opera and it concludes with a mesmerising aerial display – do not miss it!
Alice Through the Looking Glass by Britten Sinfonia
Norwich Playhouse, Saturday 12th May
Aimed at children aged 5 – 9, the ethos of this performance of 'Alice Through the Looking Glass' is don’t just listen, help them tell the story. Create a mysterious soundscape for the terrifying Jabberwock, compete in a royal bowing competition to welcome the Red Queen, help Humpty Dumpty out of a tricky situation, try a spot of conducting and join in a sing-along to celebrate Alice’s fantastical adventures. Tickets are £9.50 each or £35 for four. Performances at 2.30pm and 4.30pm.

Kumkum Malhotra: A Live Story
Norwich Castle Grounds - Saturday 12th May
An award-winning novella set in New Delhi is brought to life in the grounds of Norwich Castle as a three-part live story, beginning at 5.30pm. Experience Kumkum’s deeply moving story through multiple art forms and sensory encounters including photography and dance as you are guided around the Castle grounds. Join a knowledgeable guide to learn about the powerful and influential merchants who traded the world markets from the streets of Norwich. Or join a City of Centuries tour which takes places on Saturday 12th May again at 11am. Booking in advance is advised; walking tours start at The Forum and cost £5 lasting around 90 minutes. Big Fish Little Fish Family Rave
Epic Studios - Sunday 13th May
Do something different this weekend: due to popular demand, the world-famous, multi award-winning family rave phenomenon Big Fish Little Fish returns to Norwich, at 2pm on Sunday.
Award-winning Big Fish Little Fish have entertained over 150,000 family ravers up and down the UK and have now launched in Australia. They've organised events in Dozens of venues including Alexandra Palace, the V+A and Glastonbury.
World renowned DJ`s EZ Rollers featuring Ella Sopp supported by DJ Trax will be playing (grown up) oldschool dance music along with confetti cannons, bubbles, giant parachute dance, themed crafts, Playdoh table, giant mural, face painting stall,fully licenced bar. The event has a `Out of this world` theme with optional (but encouraged) fancy dress. BFLF events are aimed at 0-8`s and their families but older siblings are most welcome. Adults are not admitted unless accompanied by a child.
Wild about the Wensum
Pensthorpe Natural Park - Saturday 12th May
TV presenter, author and naturalist, Nick Baker, is set to open The Pensthorpe Conservation Trust’s* annual community event Wild About the Wensum on Saturday 12th May 2018!
Wild About the Wensum, now in its twelfth year, is a special one-day event held by the Pensthorpe Conservation Trust with the sole focus on encouraging everyone to enjoy the beautiful Wensum Valley, within which Pensthorpe Natural Park is located. If you've not visited the area before, then this event is definitely for you! The day will feature a meet and greet with Nick Baker, a special trail to follow, hands-on nature activities, and you can also get acquainted with some of Norfolk's wildlife charities, who will also be in attendance.
Admission price is reduced for the day, at £2 per person for tickets booked online in advance, and £3 per person on the day. Under 3’s are free. Please note there will be an additional charge to access indoor play area Hootz House.

Greater Anglia has Advance fares from £10 one way between London Liverpool Street and Norwich. Trains run every 30 minutes. Greater Anglia also serves Colchester, Ipswich and Diss on the Norwich line. Direct trains also run from Cambridge.
East Midlands Trains runs services from Liverpool, Manchester and Nottingham. Flights into Norwich served from Edinburgh, Manchester, Exeter, Aberdeen and Amsterdam, and seasonally from Guernsey and Jersey.
