Straight from the Horse's Mouth - 19/08/2016

Each Friday we'll be live on Future Radio, highlighting some of the best events and things to do over the next week or so!

If you heard us on there this week then have a read to remind yourselves of what we talked about (and don’t forget to tune in to Future Radio at 4.15pm each Friday to stay up to date!)

  • Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden continue to offer some great summer things to do, starting with their Forest Night Adventure on Saturday 20 August. Experience the magic of their woodland garden at night with Jon Tyler of Wildforwoods. Enjoy a night-time adventure of astronomy, wildlife and sensory discovery - rounded off with just a touch of night magic! Cost is £8.50 adult; £5.50 child. Age 8+. Booking is essential.

  • Following their summer programme, on Tuesday 23 August they have Awesome Archery with Wild4Adventure there will be tuition and games – can you pop a balloon or collect materials to help you survive in the wild? This is suitable for all ages; junior archery set available for the under 8's. Booking is essential. Cost is £15 adult / £10 child.

  • On Saturday in Norwich there continues the Slow Food Anglia and Norwich Festival at St Margarets Church in Norwich. Saturday will host a market, workshops, talks and demonstrations, and it will be open from 11am to 6pm.

  • If you love a mystery and fancy yourself as a bit of a detective then look at the two escape rooms that have recently opened in Norwich; Cryptic Escape in Tombland and History Mystery at the Guildhall.  Both offer exceptional fun and feedback is that they are absolutely fantastic. Complete the clues with either a group or just the pair of you! It’s perfect for adults and children alike. Full details are on

  • The Bandstand concerts continue this Sunday 21st August at Eaton Park at 3pm with the Pavilion Brass Quintet. If you fancy doing something before settling down to the music why not enjoy the Crazy Golf course just £4.50 for adults and £3.50 for children or with a group of 4 its £13.50. If you fancy a round in the evening enjoy their Summer Evening Crazy Golf Special until 31st August. Just £2.50 per person – any age between 6pm and 8pm – just mention VisitNorwich to get the offer.

  • If you love a good walk or like to get on your bike why not head to Whitlingham Country Park for miles of outdoor adventure. There’s a café as well so you have a drink and something to eat after all that exercise!

  • Slightly more adventurous but still enormous fun is the Go Ape site at Thetford Forest. It takes round 3 hours to complete the course; it will get the adrenalin going! Adults cost £33, children are cheaper.   

  • Tours of Alberto Giacometti: A Line Through Time take place at the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, tours are free with admission ticket. A tour is a great way to really understand the artist and his work. Tours take place at 3pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays until 26 August 2016. Meet at the Gallery reception.

  • Let’s get crafty!  Norfolk Yarn in Pottergate run lots of great course the next being Thursday 25th Aug, 10-3pm, Basic feltmaking- for beginners, all materials included £38. They have courses running all the time for knitting, crochet and feltmaking details are available on our website.  

  • Norwich Castle has a Castle Art Club on Wednesday 24th August 2016 at 12.30pm. These informal and friendly monthly art classes encourage new and improving artists to experiment with media, techniques and styles using the Castle's stunning collections for inspiration. Booking recommended. Costs are adult £6.50, Conc £6, Museums Pass £5.50.
