Is anyone else panicking yet? Just a bit?
Long gone are dreams of having your Christmas shopping done by October. Perhaps you had ambitions of making your own cards this year, with that leftover glitter and enthusiasm you’ve got kicking around. Now, as the diary fills up and you prepare yourself for the vegetable peeling highlight of the year, you wonder when you’re going to find time to do the kind of hit-and-run shop you so desperately need.
Well, Intu Chapelfield has exactly the kind of well-lit, warm efficiency you’re after – and it’s open late! All under one roof, and currently twinkling with gorgeous decorations, Chapelfield is a mall that houses all of your favourite high-street names under one roof. Plus, at the moment, you can get a festive selfie in their giant, illuminated bauble..
You’ll find all your high-street favourites: H&M (plus H&M Kids), Zara, River Island, Hollister, Superdry and Monsoon all live here (especially useful if you’re still wondering what to wear for your Christmas party!). You’ll also find denim icon Levis, the luxurious Hugo Boss, and underwear by Anne Summers and Boux Avenue. Right at the end of the mall, you’ll find a House of Fraser that spans three floors, and is currently home to Santa’s Grotto! From the 30th of November right until the 24th of December, the top floor of the store will be transformed into a festive maze, and children will have a chance to meet the man himself, right up until he begins his enormous delivery on Christmas Eve.
Intu Chapelfield is also home to a wide choice of jewellers, so no matter what your (or someone else’s) taste, you’ll find something! Browse the designer range from Beaverbrooks, find diamonds at Alba Rose, as well as favourite names H. Samuel and Ernest Jones. You’ll also find contemporary and fashion-forward pieces from Lovisa – a brand born in 2010, that aims to make runway-style pieces affordable for us all! Hooray!
Office has recently moved into the warmth of Chapelfield Mall, and you’ll also find Schuh towards the House of Fraser end of the store. For something (maybe) a bit more practical, head to Sketchers, plus there’s a Sole Trader for footwear by some of your favourite brands such as Reebok, Puma and Adidas.
You really will find whatever you’re looking for here: doing exactly what they say on the tin, Chapelfield is home to both the Disney Store, and the official store for Norwich FC – Canaries Official. For chocolate gifts (the best kind, if you ask me), there’s a Hotel Chocolat right by the main entrance of the store, and beside that you’ll find newly opened and innovative cosmetics brand Kiko (as an added bonus all of their products are free from animal testing). You’ll also find the Apple Store in here, as well as Menkind for all the latest gadgets, plus Tiger for some general fun times gifts (Tiger is particularly good if you’re going into your Christmas shop without a defined plan – it will inspire you).
There are plenty of places in and around Chapelfield to grab a cake/coffee/California roll. For light coffee breaks there’s a Pret a Manger, Costa (with an excellent terrace for people watching) and Caffe Nero, all within the store itself. For something more substantial try Yo Sushi, Ask Italian, Giraffe, Wagamama’s or Byron Burger.
This year Intu Chapelfield are supporting the incredible, valuable work of East Anglia Children's Hospices. As part of The Nook appeal to build a new hospice, Intu Chapelfield will be be selling beautiful butterfly baubles for £30 in order to raise money towards the £10m appeal, and they have a stunning cascading instillation currently glittering in the centre of the mall. Each bauble is individually numbered, and for an extra £5 you can pick a number between 0001 - 2017 (subject to availability), perhaps to commemorate a loved one, or special occasion. Visit their Customer Service desk to pick up yours!
Throughout December, Chapelfield is open late. On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, the mall is open until 8pm. On Thursdays there’s a special late night opening which sees shops shut at 9pm, and on Sundays the mall closes at 5pm. Chapelfield also cater for customers with mobility difficulties, or Autism Spectrum conditions; check their website for information.
