Do It Now: Lisa Fischer

Finally, Lisa Fischer steps into the spotlight as a star in her own right, after years of singing background for iconic stars such as The Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, Luther Vandross, Chaka Khan and Billy Ocean: legends you can’t fail to have heard of - unless you’ve been living under a rock all of your life! This will be Lisa’s first UK concert and we are beyond excited.

Receiver of 2 Grammy awards for her soulful, passionate vocals, she is set to perform a magnificent solo show at the Theatre Royal this Saturday (21st May) evening and yet again it’s another not to be missed Norfolk & Norwich Festival performance.

And if you need any further convincing, film buffs will know that Lisa is also one of the stars of Oscar-winning documentary Twenty Feet from Stardom, which showcases the talent and significance of backing singers in popular music. However, Lisa is probably best known as the woman who sings her heart out in a YouTube clip (viewed millions of times) - a duet with Mick Jagger in Gimme Shelter.

Ticket prices range from £7 - £22.50; buy online or call the Festival’s box office on 01603 766400.

Norfolk and Norwich Festival 2016 presents The Analogues2

Another festival highlight that laughs in the face of distracting digital effects, instead sticking to pure and simple musical prowess, is The Analogues Magical Mystery Tour (20 May, 8pm). Superbly combining music and performance with what they describe as “a creative sonic experiment” (intrigued yet?), this show takes the audience on a roller coaster of Beatles songs using vintage instruments accompanied by an 8 piece horns and strings section. Not a 60’s wig or pair of novelty sunglasses in sight!

Tickets £8 - £25; buy online or call 01603 766400.
