Students: Win a Night Out in Norwich with Purple Flag

At night, Norwich comes alive in a way only Norwich can.

The unique character and charm that can be found in the city is just as tangible at night as it is during the day. Widely regarded as a creative, vibrant and inclusive city, anyone who has spent an evening in Norwich can testify to how the city got its reputation. Firstly, there's something for everyone: want to eat hummus at midnight? Sure. Haven't worn a pair of high heels since you took your A-Levels? You won't be the only one in flats. You've long suspected you're a fan of avant-garde scat jazz but never did anything about it? There is a bar here where you'll find your people. There are so many different places to go and things to do that you'll never be at a loss for something to do on a Friday, and you'll always have something different to try.

Moreover, Norwich is a place where you can go out and rest assured that - as long as you're responsible - you'll also be safe, and now we have the award to prove it. As well as being listed as one of the safest university cities in the UK (The Telegraph, 2016), in autumn last year Norwich was awarded 'Purple Flag Status', which is kind of like blue flag for beaches, but for theatres and bars instead of sand and bathing water.

To secure Purple Flag, Norwich Business Improvement District (BID) worked with key partners: Norwich City Council, Norfolk Constabulary, licensed premises and other organisations, on a number of initiatives that help keep you, and Norwich's businesses, safe. For more information read here. There's loads of things going on that are here to help you if you ever need it while out in the city; it's worth knowing about.

The Competition

In partnership with Norwich BID and Purple Flag, this is your chance to WIN a night out in Norwich: dinner, drinks and a taxi back, all on us. This competition is only open to students, so the winner must be able to provide us with valid student ID.

Start the night with a meal for two at the iconic Waffle House, where if you want to eat Bolognese sauce on a waffle then you damn well can. After, head for drinks at Be at One, where you (and your friends?) will be looked after and treated to one of the most extensive cocktail menus you've ever seen. And when you're ready to come home, simply call our friends at Courtesy Taxis and they'll collect you and take you back, door to door anywhere in Norwich. All you need to do is follow the link to our competition page, submit a few details and we could be sending you on a night out to celebrate Norwich's new status as officially one of the best night-time destinations in the UK.
