This week sees December arrive, and plenty of festive events for all ages happening around Norwich (and beyond!)
This weekend, don't miss the wonderful Arts Fair East - the kind of contemporary visual art event rarely seen outside of London. Organised by the fantastic Will Teather and Brian Korteling, this is a showcase of some of some of the most exciting galleries, dealers and artists to add to your collection - or indeed just begin it. Featuring impressive works across a variety of media, and gallery specialists on hand to give advice, this is an incredibly rare opportunity in the eastern region to see art brought together like this.
Get into the spirit of a truly handmade Christmas on Saturday, when the fantastic DYAD creative will be running a Festive Card making workshop for ages 5 – 13, at their studio on Dove Street. Workshop is £8 per child (you can pay on the day).
This weekend, Holkham Hall plays host to the wonderful, glittering Diva Opera.
"A group of friends celebrate the start of the Christmas season in style and recall Yuletide stories of old. As their thoughts turn to warmer seasons they make plans for the year ahead"
A selection of arias, songs and carols will lead you into the festive season, all in the magnificent setting of Holkham's magnificent 18th century hall. Accompanied by Bryan Evans, this fabulous cast includes Richard Suart, Caryl Hughes, David Stephenson and Ashley Catling dressed in Diva Opera’s finest period costume. Tickets are £40, and include a glass of champagne and a chance to view the State Rooms, which will be all decorated for Christmas.
This weekend sees two more fantastic Christmas Markets arrive on our doorstep. After the excitement of last weekend, The Forum will be transformed into another wonderful – this time Global – Christmas Market, where you’ll find all sort of gifts, crafts and food from around the world, plus some great outside catering. Norwich Global Village Christmas Market starts on Thursday 30th of November at 10am, and finishes on Saturday – entry is free! Into the broads on that Saturday and Sunday, Woodforde’s Brewery will also be holding their ‘Magical Christmas Market’, which not only includes a chance to pick up some ale-based gifts (or just ale), but also a guided brewery tour - all free of charge.
Finish off the weekend at the Rooftop Garden on Sunday, watching the best Rat Pack tribute in the UK (as voted in the National Tribute Awards), and dining from the restaurant’s fantastic Christmas menu. Not only that, but take in the fantastic views that the rooftop has to offer, which will be stunning as the city is all lit up for Christmas. Tickets are £69.95 and are inclusive of dinner, wine and an exclusive table for the duration of the evening. Alternatively tickets just for the music are £20.
